Earth Day

I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
Each blade of grass,
Each honey tree,
Each bit of mud,
And stick and stone
Is blood and muscle,
Skin and bone.
And just as I
Need every bit
Of me to make
My body fit,
So Earth needs
Grass and stone and tree
And things that grow here
Naturally.
That’s why we
Celebrate this day.
That’s why across
The world we say:
As long as life,
As dear, as free,
I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.

Hi Mrs Rombachreads,
thank-you for mentoring my student Ben on his student blogging challenge. You certainly leave helpful and inspiring comments. I dropped by to visit your amazing blog. I was very excited to see all the work on poetry. We are about to begin a unit on teaching different styles of poetry. The students will work in pairs and teach the rest of the class.
I will use your examples of poetry to help get them started. It is so wonderful that even teachers can share their ideas and learning with each other.

I found it by, oddly enough, googling “door photos”. Then I simply clicked on images and found the ones I liked. See what you can find! 🙂
