Summer beckons me
warm breezes, cold water
toes in the Atlantic sea
We wrote haiku poems in class today, and I have to share out a few from the nearly 100 that blaze aย colorful patchwork of sticky notes across my bulletin board.
The swishing b-ball
The squeaking of people’s shoes
The cold, hard defense
-Marty
The trees danced softly
together in the crisp breeze
laughing happily
A fish ate my shoe
then he swam off feeling blue
now I am shoeless
Skateboards, pennyboards
flip tricks and pure speed cruising
skulls and red and blue
-Sydney
Waves dance across theย
blue floor like ballerinas
in the Nutcracker.
-Bhavya
Stretch into the splits
air whirling past as I turn
curtsy gracefully
-Cecilia
Haikus are trouble
You must count on your fingers
Now my fingers hurt
-Rohit
The willow tree sways
with deep grace and sadness
the makes me love life.
-Nia
Clouds form in odd shapes
Cats, dogs, hamsters, a bright face
What is up above?
-Marissa
Those furry felines
Twirling tumbling, and playing
They never stop meowing.
-Sean
The crack of the bat
The smell of grass, sweat, and dirt
The cheers from the crowd.
-Tyler
Sand scatters the beach
Waves crash on the sandy shore
Blue water shimmers
-Jack
Hi Mrs. Rombach,
I love the haikus they are really great, especially Rohits it really describes how I feel about haikus because I can’t think of anything but when I do my fingers start to hurt and don’t want to write.
Do you have trouble with Haikus?
Be awesome, Collin

Hi Collin-
I’ll definitely stop by your blog and check out what you’re writing about! I thought Rohit’s haiku was funny too, which is why I had to showcase it on my blog. I’ll be over soon. We missed you at blog club!

I love those Haikus that your students wrote. They were amazing and descriptive. I even wrote one for the Haiku contest that my sister commented about. I hope you visit my blog :D.

Hi Mrs.Rombach!
One other awesome thing, Mrs.Terry is having a Haiku contest and it has started today! Tell your students anyone can enter through the ERMS website, there are great prizes! Kira won the Limerick contest and won a box of donuts from Dunkin Donuts and a t-shirt! So great prizes are in store…

Hi Mrs.Rombach!
Please tell your students that these Haiku’s are so good! I am in Mrs.Terry’s English class this year and had to come up with a Limerick, but they were not as good as these Haiku’s. I love how they are really inspiring with so many adjectives! Stop by my blog soon!

Will do! I’m finally setting up all of the blogs for my students. We tried Kidblogs at the beginning of the year, but they didn’t even come close to Edublogs. Back to the best! ๐ I’ll know better next year. Glad to know you’re writing. We’ve been writing poetry like crazy…more to come. :)We’ll come visit you, too.
